EDMONTON – A new, peer-reviewed academic journal focusing on the practical nursing field is shedding light on scholarship from the frontlines of healthcare.
The Journal of Practical Nurse Education and Practice, a first-of-its kind, peer-reviewed, open access, academic journal, published by NorQuest College, aims to develop and share knowledge that helps deliver the healthcare outcomes Canadians expect from their system.
“As the pandemic has demonstrated time and again, the role played by practical nurses is critical to patient care and quality outcomes,” says Norma Schneider, Vice President, Academic at NorQuest College. “The launch of the Journal of Practical Nurse Education and Practice means up-to-date, accurate, and evidence-based learning shared with the front lines of healthcare, where patients have many of their most important touchpoints with the healthcare system.”
The Journal of Practical Nurse Education and Practice is the only one of its kind in Canada and one of the few worldwide. It is also NorQuest’s first ever peer-reviewed journal. Academics and practitioners in the field can contribute to the scholarship effort by submitting articles for double-blind peer review and publication. The Journal of Practical Nurse Education and Practice will be published twice per year.
The journal is developed with the support of University of Alberta Library and the Canadian Association of Practical Nurse Educators (CAPNE). The inaugural edition of the journal is available on the Journal of Practical Nurse Education and Practice website.
