EDMONTON – Read in Week has celebrated reading and literacy in Edmonton for over 30 years. NorQuest College was pleased to host the official launch of Read in Week 2022 (October 3 – 7) at a campus event.
Read in Week began in the 1990s and consisted of representatives from Edmonton Catholic Schools, Edmonton Public Schools and NorQuest College (then known as Alberta Vocational School). These organizations joined together to raise awareness for the importance of literacy, starting in grade school and carrying on to adults in the form of lifelong learning.
“NorQuest has always prized literacy and lifelong learning,” said Carolyn Campbell, President and CEO, NorQuest College. “We are proud to partner with Community Adult Learning Programs to support adult literacy in Alberta, and we’re invested in supporting the community through literacy.”
This year’s theme for Read in Week is “choose your own adventure”.
Special guests for the event included MLA David Shepherd, Mayor Amarjeet Sohi, speech pathologist Devin R. Bruce, and former City of Edmonton Poet Laureate, Nisha Patel.
