Student loans

New – As of September 8, 2022, students must verify their identity on their Alberta.ca Account to apply for student loans.

Steps to get a verified Alberta.ca Account

Your education is an investment of time and money. Government student loan programs are designed to supplement your resources and help you reach your goals.

Applying for a student loan

Students in a post-secondary program can apply for student financial assistance in their home province. Students taking upgrading courses or programs are not eligible for a student loan. Your provincial student finance aid program determines your eligibility and will determine the disbursement method (Canada loan, provincial loan, etc.).

Schedule 4 (Alberta)- The Federal/Provincial Grant is for Post-Secondary Students with Permanent Disabilities who also have applied for student loans and are in good standing. You can also apply for software or equipment that is disability-related. For more information, email accessibilityadvisor@norquest.ca.

Alberta student loan information is available on the Alberta Student Aid website. Students from other provinces should visit their provincial student aid websites for information.

Paying your tuition and fees from your student loan

If you receive a student loan, all approved funding is sent to you. It is your responsibility to be aware of the fees owed to the college. You must pay all your tuition and fees according to the college's payment schedule. See Payment for more information.
