This practicum provides students with an opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge of the role of the director in appropriate childcare settings under the supervision of the practicum supervisor and a designated mentor. In addition to engaging with children and participating in the routine each day, students are expected to demonstrate an understanding of the complex role of the director in a childcare program, from menu planning to government requirements and community resources, and are expected to interview the director on their role. In the lecture portion, students will discuss the director’s role in working with diverse families and communities, the role of the director in observation, documentation, the child’s voice and play, and working as a team member and leader.Note: Prerequisite ELCC 2100 or (ELCC 2010 & ELCC 2015) or completion of NQC ELCC certificate
