Therapeutic Physical and Environmental Adaptations - THPR 1102

Explore the fundamental concepts, theories, and frames of reference specific to occupational therapy. Gain comprehensive foundational knowledge in activities of daily living (ADLs), posture, seating, supportive surfaces, wounds, pressure, splinting, and orthotics as they pertain to occupational therapy and its unique approach to client care. Apply foundational knowledge through assisting with handling, modifying, and providing client education on ADL equipment, including bathroom equipment, seating systems, pressure-relieving modalities, and cushions. Fabricate a basic splint and learn how to assist with modifying and managing orthotics to meet client needs. All students taking this course will be required to attend the scheduled in-person lab(s) at NorQuest College Edmonton campus.

Note: Prerequisites: COMM 1001, ENGL 2510, RHAB 1001, THPR 1100 Co-requisite: PATH 1020 Restricted to Interdisciplinary Therapy Assistant
