What to expect from the program

You’re not alone

Being a family caregiver can feel like a lonely journey. You’re constantly making sacrifices to care for your loved one. And while most of your social circle doesn’t understand the responsibilities and commitments that come with providing home or end-of-life care, our workshop participants and facilitators understand your challenges.

By providing support and resources, our workshops are created to improve the quality of life for family caregivers and their loved ones who require care.

Thanks again for the opportunity for people to be able to access these workshops; it really lifts the fog. I can see this type of information lowering the stress level for care-givers and care-patients … the knowledge that I gained in 2 hours was huge.

- Sherry Bower-Gagne

Convenient & accessible

With many caregivers already lacking time, we’ve made our workshops convenient and accessible, so no matter your location, schedule, or financial status, you can attend and learn the skills necessary to provide confident care.

  • Online or in-person workshops
  • Can be completed at your own pace
  • 100% free with workshops only 2 hours long

Workshop topics

Our family caregiver workshops cover a range of different topics, including:

  • Assisting with mobility-safe practices
  • Navigating the healthcare system
  • Assisting with personal and intimate care
  • Pain monitoring and management for the caregiver
  • Palliative and end-of-life care
  • Effective communication: Guidance for the caregiver
  • Supporting a person with dementia
  • Infection control and prevention
  • Mealtime & medication assistance

The Mealtime & Medication Assistance class which focused on safe feeding practices and administration of medications was invaluable. The simulator showed how critical proper feeding can be for people with swallowing issues … I highly encourage anyone in a caregiver role to take this informative workshop.

More benefits of attending a workshop

Along with the specialized skills you’ll learn, we’ll also suggest complimentary technologies that you can use to make your daily activities easier and less stressful. You’ll also learn how to perform health observations and watch out for any negative changes. This skill will help you feel empowered to communicate more effectively with your loved one’s healthcare provider and aid in earlier detection of declining health.

 A community who understands you

Our initiative doesn’t stop with knowledge and skills transfer. We also provide a safe, supportive community for you to connect with other caregivers. Through our community learning centers, you can stay connected to workshop participants and facilitators while receiving ongoing support.

All our facilitators undergo comprehensive diversity and inclusion training in order to create a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.
