Mental Health Recovery Practitioner

The Mental Health Recovery Practitioner post-diploma certificate program provides health and human services professionals with the knowledge and skills to identify and understand mental health needs and to support clients navigate mental health systems. This program is offered in a combination of online courses and in person classroom instruction.

What to expect from the program

The program emphasizes acquisition of applied skills and best practices in direct client care, advocacy, ethics, and work with families and communities. A key component of the program is practical application and debriefing in class and practicum. The program builds upon students’ previous training and experience, and graduates are equipped to meet client and employer needs in a range of relevant settings.

NorQuest College believes in the importance of on-the-job experience that provides an enriched learning opportunity.

You’ll graduate this program with 120 hours of work experience from a practicum and 15 hours of community service learning.


Career opportunities

The Mental Health Recovery Practitioner program will provide a viable career pathway for those entering the mental health field. Graduates of the Mental Health Recovery Practitioner program may pursue further education at the bachelor’s and master’s level, in areas such as social work, addictions, mental health, program administration, management and/or research.
